Here at your local Clinton Township Dodge dealer, Parkway Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM, we believe that in order to fully appreciate the wide offerings of Dodge vehicles, it's important to understand the company's past. Of course, we could go on and on about how cool the 2014 Dodge Challenger is, but let us take a moment to talk about how Dodge got to this point in its history. For over 100 years now, Dodge has been making a diverse lineup of vehicles that are widely known for their value, engine power, and interior luxury. As one of the oldest and most revered North American automakers, Dodge has undergone many changes in its lifetime.

Brothers John and Horace Dodge formed the Dodge Brothers Company in Detroit in 1900, making chassis and engine components for the number of new automobile companies in the area. By 1914, Horace Dodge had branched out into making his own vehicles, with the first being the Dodge Model 30, which was known as a slightly more upscale version of the Ford Model T. Tragedy struck in 1920, when both of the Dodge Brothers passed away. Struggling due to a lack of strong leadership, Dodge was sold to Chrysler Corporation in 1928. Under the leadership of Chrysler Group since then, the Dodge brand has flourished, producing a variety of pickup trucks, sedans, sports cars and minivans.

Besides the successful Dodge Model 30, Dodge created a variety of innovative models in its early years, starting with the Model 30-35 Touring Car. These early vehicles were known for their all-steel body construction, 12-volt electrical system, 35 horsepower and sliding gear transmission. In the 1930s, Dodge added a new eight-cylinder line to accompany its six-cylinder vehicle, with these vehicles being known as the Eight and the Six, respectively. The post-war years saw a huge expansion of the new Dodge lineup, with standout vehicles being the Dodge Dart, the Dodge Lancer, and the Dodge Charger. In the 1960s and 1970s, Dodge became well known for being a major player in the muscle car scene, especially with its powerful and stylish Dodge Challenger. Since then, Dodge has expanded its lineup even further, adding one of the most popular minivans of all-time, the Dodge Grand Caravan, as well as the RAM pickup truck line.

While we here at your Clinton Township Dodge dealer realize that Dodge has had a storied history of innovation and exciting vehicles in the past, we believe that the best days for the company are happening right now. Just one look at our new and pre-owned Dodge vehicles here at Parkway Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM will show you how varied the Dodge lineup is.
